Pink Bubbles Go Ape: A summary by Tony Webster

This album was recorded during a very strange and very stressful time in the band’s career. Due to court cases the band didn’t release this album until 3 years after Keeper 2 came out. Plus they had a different producer. This album was not entirely popular by the fans and didn’t sell very well. Productionwise it’s the worst of any Helloween album. When looking back on it though, the album is good for what it is. New guitarist Roland Grapow wrote three songs and co-wrote one, all are considered by most fans to be the best songs on the album. Mankind, Someone’s Crying, and the fan favorite The Chance were definite highlights of this album. Michael Kiske wrote some great tracks like Kids of The Century and Your Turn. Almost no imput from Michael Weikath appeared on this record except for a couple of tracks, the song Number One and the joke song Heavy Metal Hamsters which of course like Dr. Stein was also meant to be a b-side. Overall this was an album by band with a lot of inner turmoil at the time. Still it turned out quite well despite everything they had dealt with over the last 3 years.
